A modern family garden

The clients, a design and environmentally conscious couple with young children wanted a contemporary family garden.  Space is needed for entertaining, play and growing fruit and vegetables.  The garden is grown using organic principles and there is space for composting.  The spaces will continue to support the family's needs as the children grow.
A dining area is separated from the main play space and connected by two wide paths sloping down to the lawn.  These paths give great access and are play spaces in themselves.
Careful selection of materials and design details have created a contemporary space that satisfies all the needs of the family and looks stunning.
A garden for the Woodstock generation

The clients, a retired couple, wanted a garden rich in colour and texture.  Space is needed for dining out and growing fruit and vegetables. This new property needed to be anchored into its landscape.
Clever use of space and angles ensures that this small narrow garden feels spacious.  Fabulous views are created within the garden, leading the eye away from the dominant fence.  Spaces for compost bins, greenhouse, storage and vegetable and fruit - every inch of space used yet the garden feels spacious.  Planting is a contemporary mix of grasses, bamboos and tree ferns all lifted with herbaceous perennials and bulbs giving seasonal highlights.
Great design details ensure this garden continues to excel.
A garden for entertaining

The clients, a hard working couple, wanted a garden to relax in at the end of a  long days  work and to entertain at weekends.  The garden needed to  sit harmoniously in its New Forest setting yet have a contemporary feel.
A central lawn provides space for a marquee for parties.  A large terrace for comfortable dining is connected to further seating by a series of steps making the most of the incline.  The pergola reduces the dominance of the high boundary and continues the journey within the garden, encouraging exploration.
Specimen trees and shrubs are framed by the pergola posts giving seasonal highlights.  A mix of ornamental grasses and herbaceous perennials give a more contemporary feel to the garden and softly separate the spaces.
Great use of space and excellent circulation ensure the success of this beautiful garden.
