Winning a gold medal and winner of best in show, this is a garden in its own right or a perfect addition to a larger landscape.
This garden was a collaboration between using local skilled craftsmen to show how stunning and relevant the age old skills of drystone walling, blacksmith and traditional construction can be when combined with excellent design.
The created garden feels calm, for sitting alone and quiet reflection or for entertaining friends.
Wildlife friendly planting attracts bees and butterflies. The seed heads would provide important food for birds in winter as well as combined with ornamental grasses give good winter silhouettes.
Use of the garden is extended into evenings with a firepit that can be used for BBQ’in or simply warming your toes!
The purbeck seat feels completely self contained and away from the world, even within the busy show ground.
Space within the beautiful purbeck stone, drystone wall provides space for storing wood for the firepit in summer. The wood store also provides an invaluable habitat for insects in winter.
The planting is anchored by Pittosporum Tobira Nana, Artemesia ‘Powis Castle’ and Purple Sage.
Panicum grasses mixed with herbaceous perennials such as Agapanthus and Achillea Cerise Queen give the garden a soft, meadow-like feel.
Three Olive trees and a curtain of Molinia ‘Karl Foerster’ enclose the seat.
