Dorset Garden Design open to the public 25th September 2011

RHS & SGD Open Gardens Event

Elks-Smith Garden Design are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our garden open day in association with the Society of Garden Designers and The Royal Horticultural Society ‘Open Gardens’ event.

To help celebrate the SGD’s 30th anniversary, we are very proud to have had our design for a large contemporary country garden to be chosen as part of the seasonal openings of some of Britain’s most inspiring gardens, rarely seen by the public eye.

Creating a design for the recently renovated contemporary farmhouse garden was quite challenging. It was essential to replicate the restored beauty and surroundings of the traditional farmhouse to the surrounding landscape. Surrounded by rich old meadow pasture and rolling hills with views to the sea, we designed a garden that subtly blends strong structural elements with lush, layered planting that catches the costal breeze.

The finished design was worth the wait and is now open to the public on 25th September 2011 12pm – 4pm. Garden and design enthusiasts have the opportunity to stroll around the enchanting garden at the peak of its season whilst embracing the society’s anniversary theme of ’30 years and 3 minutes’. We can assure you that the theory of ‘just three minutes exposure to green space helps reduce stress’ will certainly come alive in the little Dorset haven we have created.
