Helen Elks-Smith FSGD Fellow of the Society of Garden Designers

March 1 2020

We are delighted to announced that Helen has been made a Fellow of the Society Of Garden Designers. Helen was honoured to receive such an award. Helen was recognised for her outstanding contribution to the industry. The Fellowship was announced by Sarah Morgan MSGD, Chair of the Society of Garden Designers at the prestigious SGD Awards Ceremony at the Landmark Hotel in London January 2020.

Whilst a member of the governing body of the SGD Council, 2010-2013, Helen was instrumental in the creation of the SGD Awards. No longer on council Helen has continued to support the industry and is a regular speaker at industry events, recently championing professional gardeners. In 2019 Helen was appointed as a Trustee of Trees and Design Action Group (TDAG), an open collaborative forum promoting the role of the urban forest across the UK. TDAG and its members shares the collective vision that the location of trees, and all the benefits they bring, can be secured for future generations through better collaboration in the planning, design, construction and management of our urban infrastructure and spaces. Residential gardens and homeowners are key to the success of the urban forest as over 60% of land is contained within our gardens.

Fellows of the Society are Registered Members who have been recognised for making an exceptional contribution to the SGD or the garden design profession, and use FSGD (Fellow of the Society of Garden Designers) after their names.duis.
