The house sits towards the back of the plot with the garage tucked into the rear corner. The drive needs to run from the entrance gates to the garage with the potential for the drive to dominate the garden. A line of mature olives creates a soft divide and key specimen trees have been added to the boundary to create screening from buildings across the road. The garden is set one garden away from the coastline, but is sheltered by the opposite property and mature stand of trees. The seating spaces are now positioned to take advantage of the light in the garden at different times of the day and the enclosing planting creates an immersive experience and beautiful views both from within the house and the garden. The images show how important planting is when defining spaces and creating views. Photographs copyright James Osmond , Helen Elks-Smith
